Alumni Success Stories

At Lockleys North Primary school we believe that all learners can and will be successful. Our vision is to develop a community of empowered learners who strive for success. Our values shape our vision, beliefs and way of being. Respect, Care and Concern, Honesty and Pursuit of Excellence guide every part of our culture, relationships, and teaching and learning.

At Lockleys North Primary School we celebrate the champions who began their journeys here and went on to excel at the highest levels of sport. This page honours our ex-scholars who have reached professional ranks, recognising their dedication, resilience and passion, and inspires current students to dream big, work hard and follow in their footsteps.

Alumni Success Story
Charli Smyth

At Lockleys North Primary School, we take immense pride in celebrating the achievements of our alumni, and few stories inspire quite like that of Charli Smyth (Class of 2015).

Charli’s journey began during her time at LNPS, where she developed a passion for sport and a strong foundation of discipline and commitment. She first took up surf lifesaving in Year 7 and quickly demonstrated the dedication and work ethic that would define her future.

Transitioning into kayaking, Charli rapidly rose through the ranks, earning selection in her first Australian team in 2018 for the Asia Pacific Cup. From there, she continued to represent Australia on the international stage, competing in New Zealand, Japan, and at the Junior World Championships in Romania.

Her career highlights include competing at the U23 World Championships in Italy in 2023, where she placed 13th in the world individually and achieved a top-10 finish in the K4 team event an extraordinary accomplishment at such an elite level.

Charli’s success was built on years of relentless dedication, training six days a week, balancing gym sessions and on-water paddling, and maintaining a level of discipline that exemplifies excellence. Although she officially retired from kayaking in early 2025, her legacy continues to inspire the next generation of LNPS students.

Charli’s story is a powerful reminder of where passion, perseverance, and commitment can lead.

Alumni Success Story
Nathan Amanatidis & Panagiotis Kikianis

In 2025, we proudly welcomed back two Lockleys North Primary School graduates whose sporting achievements have taken them onto national and international stages: Nathan Amanatidis and Panagiotis Kikianis. Speaking at a special primary assembly, Nathan and Panagiotis shared powerful stories of dedication, resilience and the rewards of following their passions, messages that clearly inspired our current students.

To mark the occasion, they presented LNPS with signed, framed jerseys, now on display in the Gym Foyer Trophy Room as lasting reminders of what can be accomplished through hard work and self-belief. They have also donated additional signed jerseys for the silent auction at our 65th Anniversary Gala Dinner later this year.

We thank Nathan and Panagiotis for returning to their primary school roots and motivating the next generation of LNPS learners to set bold goals, persevere through challenges and believe in themselves.

Introducing the Lockleys North Sports Person Award

This award recognises one senior boy and one senior girl who have demonstrated outstanding participation, commitment, and achievement in sport throughout their time at LNPS.

Recipients consistently represent our school across:

  • School Sport
  • SAPSASA Knockout Competitions
  • Sports Day and District Day

Most importantly, they embody our school values and learner qualities in everything they do.

Each recipient is awarded a commemorative medal named in honour of two exceptional LNPS alumni.

The Smyth Medal

Named after Charli Smyth (Class of 2015), this medal recognises a student who demonstrates:

  • Grit
  • Determination
  • Unwavering commitment

The recipient reflects Charli’s legacy by representing LNPS across a wide range of sporting opportunities, including competitions such as netball, soccer, football, futsal, and SAPSASA selection, while consistently upholding our school values.

The Kikianis Medal

Named after Pana Kikianis (Class of 2017), this medal honours a senior boy who embodies:

  • Dedication
  • Resilience
  • Teamwork

Pana’s journey from LNPS to professional football including his progression through Adelaide United and representation of Australia at U18 and U20 levels demonstrates what is possible through hard work and commitment.

The recipient of this medal reflects these same qualities through active involvement in school sport, representing LNPS across competitions such as soccer, football, futsal, and SAPSASA pathways.

Together, these awards celebrate not only sporting excellence, but the character, perseverance, and school pride that define LNPS athletes past, present and future.
