Welcome to Lockleys North Primary School.

At Lockleys North Primary schools we believe that all learners can and will be successful. Our vision is to develop ‘community of empowered learners who strive for success’, and we aim to achieve that  by focussing on our  values of ‘Respect’, ‘Honesty’, ‘Pursuit of Excellence’, and ‘Care and Concern’.

Our commitment to providing high quality education is reflected in our ‘way of being’. Our highly collaborative endeavours provide quality education by establishing conditions where all stakeholders wonder and inquire into meaningful problems, and learning thrives. Staff at Lockleys North Primary School continually provide learning experiences which not only foster powerful literacy and numeracy skills but also develop students’ vital abilities to think critically and creatively, to take ethical action, and to construct a deep awareness and understanding of our global culture. Our contemporary learning environments nurture curiosity, wonder, flexibility, collaboration and independence.

We are committed to understanding how children learn best, seeing ourselves as co-learners, working with them as they learn. In an ever changing global climate, our  aspiration is to develop young people of character and purpose; individuals who are fully prepared, both personally and academically, for the challenges of modern day life. We believe that education is as much about the shaping of character as it is about the acquisition of knowledge and skills. We want to inspire in every child a willingness to take risks, kindness towards all, and a reflective nature which always strives for excellence.

Our aspiration is to teach, model and build academic and social behaviours which will lead to full and successful lives beyond school. By encouraging students to understand themselves as learners, we focus on explicit teaching of our 6 learner qualities (Collaborative, Curious, Resilient, Reflective, Independent, Innovative).  The ultimate goal is for LNPS students to exhibit characteristics of successful learners.

Students who continually aim high, know what they are learning, what success looks like, and act upon feedback. They know when and how to employ particular qualities in the process of learning. By emphasising these qualities, we are supporting and empowering students to take responsibility for their learning by setting goals, to accelerate their progress.
